The government has relaxed the two-week strict lockdown in Metro Manila and four nearby provinces as authorities stepped up hospital capacity to accommodate patients infected with the coronavirus.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal have been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine , the second-highest in the country’s four-level community quarantine, from April 12 to April 30, 2021. Three others places that have also been put under MECQ are Santiago City, Quirino, and Abra have also been put under MECQ.

These include “stringent limits on movement and transportation of people, strict regulation of operating industries, provision of food and essential services, and heightened presence of uniformed personnel to enforce community quarantine protocols.”The government requires a strict home quarantine in all households. People may only go out of their houses if they will access essential goods and services as well as go to work in offices allowed during MECQ.

Those industries that were not allowed in ECQ, however, shall be allowed at 50 percent on-site capacity. The government prohibits gatherings outside residences except for those essential for the provision of health services, government services, or humanitarian activities. Gatherings at home with any person outside of the immediate household are also prohibited.The government allows religious gatherings up to 10 percent of the venue capacity subject to health protocols.

-Recreational venues such as internet cafes, billiard halls, amusement arcades, bowling alleys, and similar venues;
