While Severe Tropical Storm Falcon remains unlikely to make landfall in the country, it continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, or habagat, that is bringing rains over parts of Luzon and Visayas, according to the state weather bureau.

Severe Tropical Storm Falcon intensified while accelerating over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said Sunday afternoon.

PAGASA said intense to torrential rains are likely in Zambales and Bataan, while heavy to intense rains are expected in Occidental Mindoro due to the habagat. Falcon is expected to steadily intensify within the next three days. It could become a typhoon between Sunday evening and Monday morning and reach its peak intensity on Tuesday.

As of Sunday afternoon, Falcon was seen near the border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility and it may exit the country's weather monitoring area on Monday evening or Tuesday morning, the state weather bureau added.
