Ex-Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim passes away at 90

MANILA--Former Manila Mayor and senator Alfredo Lim has passed away, Lim's chief of staff, Ric de Guzman, confirmed on Saturday.Lim was a member of the national police force for 30 years, according to his bio posted on the official Senate website.

He was appointed director of the National Bureau of Investigation in 1992, then was elected mayor of Manila later that year.Lim was appointed Interior and Local Government secretary in 2000 under President Joseph Estrada, before being elected senator in 2004. Lim last figured prominently in politics when he threw his hat in the Manila mayoral race last year, competing with Estrada and Isko Moreno.

Born on December 21, 1929, Lim received his Business Administration degree in 1951 at University of the East.In the mid-1980s, he was appointed director of the Western Police District and retired a major general.

Naalala ko noong 1990 nanalo sa lotto itong si Lim and to think he was assigned by Aquino to investigate anomaly in PCSO. Wala lang, RIP na Mayor.
