– A retired cop was gunned down in broad daylight by three unidentified men on Saturday, December 12, in Barangay Dongon, Maasin City.

Maasin City Police Chief Lt. Col. Mark Nalda identified the victim as retired SPO1 Dominico G. Petere, 48. Petere was formerly assigned at the Police Regional Office 8 in Palo, Leyte until he retired from the service. Witnesses told the police that the victim was just doing house chores at their family compound when suspects in bonnets arrived, and shot the victim in different parts of the body. Petere died on-the-spot.

The three suspects later boarded a white Asian utility vehicle with no plates, and made good their escape. A flash alarm was also raised for the white AUV all over the province of Southern Leyte by the police.
