DOLE, may emergency employment sa mga lugar na apektado ng Bagyong Odette

MAYNILA — Nagpapatupad ang Department of Labor and Employment ng emergency employment para sa mga informal worker sa mga lugar na matinding naapektuhan ng Bagyong Odette, sabi ngayong Huwebes ng isang opisyal ng ahensiya.

Ayon kay Karen Trayvilla ng DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, nasa 25,000 mangaggawa sa Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao at Caraga ang makikinabang sa programa. Sinimulan na aniya ng Eastern Visayas ang kanilang emergency employment noong Disyembre 17 habang Disyembre 20 naman ito nag-umpisa sa Northern Mindanao.

Pagtatrabahuhin ang mga benepisyaryo sa rehabilitation at recovery effort kaugnay ng Odette. Tutulong umano sila sa pag-repack ng relief goods at clearing operations sa mga kalsada.Nasa P100 milyon ang inilaang pondo para sa programa. Pero aminado si Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na hindi sapat ang pondo para sa lahat ng manggagawang naapektuhan ng bagyo.Sa huling tala ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, umakyat na sa 258 ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa pananalasa ng Odette noong nakaraang linggo.
