AGRICULTURAL damage caused by El Niño has hit P9.89 billion and could still rise even if the weather pattern has officially been declared as having ended, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Monday.

AGRICULTURAL damage caused by El Niño has hit P9.89 billion and could still rise even if the weather pattern has officially been declared as having ended, the Department of Agriculture said on Monday.The DA said it was still collating data from across the country and that to date the government had distributed P9.91 billion in assistance to those affected by dry spells and droughts.

75 billion.For corn the loss was 188,861 MT and for high-value crops it was 50,227 MT .The DA said it had implemented interventions amounting P9.9 billion for affected farmers and fisherfolk, including P8.59 billion that was distributed through the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance and P659.17 million for production support.
