Cagayan on Monday declared a province-wide state of calamity due to the damage wrought by Super Typhoon EgayPH.

Cagayan and other provinces have declared a state of calamity following reports of more fatalities and damage after Typhoon Egay ravaged many parts of the country last week.

According to the latest situation report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council , the death toll from Egay has reached 25. Of this number, two were confirmed, one each in Calabarzon and Western Visayas, while 23 are still being verified.The NDRRMC also said 106 areas in the country have declared a state of calamity due to Egay.

Speaking to CNN Philippines' Balitaan, Raul Agustin, operations head of the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said floodwaters are already subsiding in areas like Guiguinto and Balagtas.
