The effects of the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed in the National Capital Region-plus (NCR-plus) may be felt in two weeks time.

Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire made the statement after the government downgraded the restrictions imposed in NCR-plus to less strict modified ECQ until the end of April.

“But hopefully, because of all these measures that we are doing, in about two weeks time we will see the decline in the number of cases,” she added. “It is not because we shifted to MECQ that we are nOt going to implement measures. We are stepping up measures in the different response strategies that we are having, and local governments are stepping up their efforts,” she said.

The DOH official had this to say in reaction to the statement issued by the Healthcare Professionals Alliance against COVID-19 , saying that the government still has “no clear plans and efforts to fix the root causes” of the health crisis in the country.
