Balanga City—An electric vehicle charging station at the SM Mall here offering services free of charge has passed the standards of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and recognized as an eco-friendly infrastructure during a two-day benchmarking activity for a project.
The project, Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities , has been launched by DENR in some selected areas in the country to increase their capacities for environment and natural resource management, climate disaster resilience and socio-economic development. Paula Gayeta, SM City Bataan public relations officer, said the supermall participated in the benchmarking activity of DENR for project TRANSFORM, not only to showcase its dedication to environmental conservation but also to set a standard for others to emulate.
"As the Philippines continues its journey towards a more sustainable future, SM Supermalls’ initiatives like this provides hope and inspiration for a cleaner, greener tomorrow. SM Supermalls has long been an advocate of environmental sustainability,” she said. Butch GunioGayeta said the facility not only supports the growing number of electric vehicle owners in the region but also encourages more people to consider making switch to greener transportation.
