“passion and dedication” despite his decision to work from home for the meantime, Malacanang said Tuesday.Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo explained that the President will stay at home “for a while” but will continue to work.
The Palace initially announced that the President will take a three-day rest from his “punishing” work schedule and will tap Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to be the caretaker for the meantime. A few hours later, Panelo clarified that the President will not go on leave and instead decided to work from home.
According to Panelo, the President explained that he has a better chance of getting some rest at home, than in the Palace, after work. “Eh doon medyo hindi masyado – at kung mayroon man, eh ang lapit from the house to… a few minutes. Hindi kagaya rito, lilipad ka pa, mata-traffic ka pa [In Davao, there’s not much work. If there is, it is close from the house, just a few minutes. Unlike here, you have to travel, you’ll endure traffic too],” he said.
He also attended the birthday celebration of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco and visited the wakes of the late industrialist John Gokongwei Jr., PAL Holdings Inc president Lucio “Bong” Tan Jr.
