President Duterte has signed into law the measure establishing the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute .The new law sought to bridge the research and policy gap in the energy sector and push reforms that will directly benefit the Filipino people.
The Institute will include five ex-officio members, namely the secretaries of the departments of Energy , Environment and Natural Resources , and Science and Technology ; the National Economic and Development Authority director-general; and the UP President. PERPI is expected to provide timely technical and strategic assistance to the government, energy regulators and Congress, on energy-related matters requiring policy direction and advice.
