ICYMI: President Rodrigo Duterte has assured those affected by Typhoon OdettePH that he is trying to look for funds for their aid, saying that government coffers have already been “immensely depleted” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Itong COVID, naubos ang pera natin. So we’re trying to screen how much we can raise so that we can marshal it to the areas affected,” he added.

“As per information from the area, the terminal ng Siargao was damaged but the runway is usable Mr. President,” Jalad said. “I am not so much worried about damage to structures, infrastructures of government, ang ano ko is, ang takot ko kung maraming namatay . Eh I am as eager as you to go there, to see for myself,” he said.

Halo asa ang money ready for election

Translation: 'Don't expect much (if there's any) aid from me and my regime'. Rather than assure people and act to find solutions, Duterte would rather give depressing announcements to those already facing hardships. And here I thought my expectations couldn't be set any lower.

Ganyan talaga pag ninanakawan ang kaban ng mahirap na bansa. Masaklap nito yung mga government officials pa ang pasimuno.

And this is all he could say. While victims look to govt for help and compassion, all they get are appeals for understanding and excuses. Unfortunate but govt could do so much even in the absence of funds.

• PH govt giving more BAD news to grief stricken typhoon victims. •Are we missing international Aid and support? •Usually in times of calamities, you would hear regular updates and news conferences from the PH govt. Is that still in place?
