DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte is planning to visit the families of the Jolo, Sulu twin bombings before going back to Manila.Go said he will be accompanying the President, who will personally express his condolences to the families of the victims of the gruesome explosion last August 24.
Two successive explosions in downtown Jolo killed 14 soldiers, civilians, and a policeman, and wounded 75 others. Go said Duterte wanted to boost the morale of the soldiers in the province, especially because some of their comrades were killed in the bombing. “Tuloy-tuloy po yung digmaan doon, giyera laban sa mga terorista kaya kailangan nating ipakita sa kanila na andyan lang gobyerno to support them,” he said.Meanwhile, the senator said there was no need to declare martial law in Jolo town or in the province of Sulu since Republic Act 11479, or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, was already existing.The senator said the provisions in the Anti-Terrorism Act should be used to clamp down on terrorist groups which continue to sow violence in the country.
