President Rodrigo Duterte appointed former Angeles City mayor Edgardo Pamintuan as chair of the Clark Development Corporation Board, CDC president and chief executive officer Manuel Gaerlan announced on Sunday, February 7.
“Our new chairman comes from one of our host communities and was instrumental in opening the access to the Clark Freeport Zone and other centers of economy,” Gaerlan said in a statement posted on Facebook. During the Arroyo administration, he was also named presidential adviser for external affairs from 2004 to 2010, and was an adviser to the Duterte government’s peace panel for negotiations with communists.
Pamintuan thanked both Duterte for his latest appointment, as well as former president and former speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who had been one of the first to congratulate him on his new role. In November 2020, Malacañang announced Duterte tapped Arroyo as his“Despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, my mindset will be forward-moving in promoting success of Clark,” Pamintuan said in a statement.
