Comparing corruption to

“cancer cells,” President Duterte has vowed to combat corruption and the powerful interests that keep the people poor and landless.The President maintained that he would not allow the menace of corruption to destroy the achievements in promoting peace and development in the country in the past three years.

“Corruption is akin to cancer cells that must be weeded out to dramatically reduce poverty and bring forth a comfortable life for all,” he added. With his goal to bring a comfortable life for all Filipinos, Duterte declared that the “best is yet to come” following the headway in the fight against corruption, crime, illegal drugs, and peace efforts in Mindanao in the past three years.

He said the administration would dedicate the remainder of his term to deal with the challenges head-on.
