The government is building up its capacity to conduct coronavirus testing by accrediting more medical facilities in the coming weeks, President Duterte announced.

The President recognized that conducting more tests would give a “more accurate picture” of the spread of the new coronavirus in the country.

“We are also ramping up our capacity to test more broadly to take a fuller and more accurate picture of the spread of COVID-19 in the country,” Duterte said in his public address late Monday night. Duterte also announced the acquisition of one million personal protective supplies for the country’s health frontliners. Other medical supplies and devices needed in the battle against the coronavirus are also being procured by the government.
