The Dragons made an impression with their 133-87 annihilation of the Blackwater Elite Bossings in a win that proved to be the most lopsided in the league in five years.Former Philadelphia 76ers’ guard Myles Powell exploded with 41 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for the Bay Dragons, who wasted no time in taking the lead from the start.
Coach Brian Goorjian said the Dragons, who have adjusted to the quickness of the game plays and their months of tuneup games in the Philippines, showed on the floor with their great game.“From the start, our defense was good. We stayed in front ‘em. We did a good job on the odd balls and the offensive end,” said the 69-year-old Goorjian.
The 6’2” Powell knocked in 14 points in the first period as the Dragons quickly moved away from a 7-all deadlock with a 20-0 blast. Powell’s three free throws and layup found their marks in the last 3:06, giving the Dragons as 22-7 edge. After holding the Bossings to just 19 points in the first quarter, the Dragons never looked back from a 36-19 edge entering into the second canto.Powell struck with 12 points in the second period, with his pull up jumper and three-pointer with a second left, allowing the Dragons to enjoy a 28-point edge, 64-36.
