Repair works in the damaged drainage along Roxas Boulevard have been started, prompting closure of the portion of the highway, the Department of Public Works and Highways has announced.

DPWH said it began the repair works of 54.9 linear meter-Libertad Main Drainage in Pasay City on Friday night after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority gave clearance to the activity. According to DPWH, the construction of drainage main would require initial road closure along the south bound portion of Roxas Boulevard from V. Sotto to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue approaching Buendia Flyover.

DPWH said the temporary closure would allow the agency to construct an efficient drainage system leading to Libertad Pumping Station, preventing flooding in surrounding areas. All light vehicles are advised to take Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard going to MIA as an alternative route, while heavy vehicles including trucks may turn left to P. Burgos Avenue, along Finance Road and Ayala Boulevard, then right turn to San Marcelino Street, P. Quirino Avenue going to South Super Highway.
