DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña cited that the DOST-III, through the health and nutrition entry point of the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology launched on Feb. 15 the program to combat malnutrition among children in Barangays San Antonio, Bonifacio, and Maycaban in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.
The DOST chief said the supplementary food feeding activities for 62 program recipients will be conducted daily for 120 days. He explained that brown rice is a great source of protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can help to control blood sugar levels, lower bad cholesterol, prevent heart disease, and the risk of developing cancer.
