0FOLLOWING extensive stakeholder consultations, the Department of Labor and Employment is now set to submit its proposed Labor and Employment Plan to the Cabinet for approval.

Federation of Free Workers President Sonny Matula noted that the LEP could still undergo improvements. He noted labor groups are pushing for the integration of the recommendations of the International Labor Organization-High Level Tripartite Mission to address Freedom of Association violations, education and training of workers as well as wage review in the LEP.

“My understanding is that the roadmap would have specific activities and time frames that would help realize the LEP,” Mata said.
