JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla yesterday disclosed that investigators are now looking into the possibility that there are at least three mass graves at the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.
Cataroja was reported missing on July 15, prompting Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. to ask for assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard and the National Bureau of Investigation in identifying the remains. He added that the DOJ and the Bureau of Corrections , which operates the prison facilities in the country, have sought the assistance of forensic experts to look into the matter, particularly, to determine how long the dumping of bodies inside the national penitentiary has been taking place.
“This was before Catapang. We don’t know of its Bantag but we cannot conclude at once. That’s why sabi ko we need forensic anthropology here. They have to look at everything lying down,” Remulla said.
