The Department of Health has secured around three million doses of vaccines against pertussis.

Early this year, the DOH ordered around six million doses of pentavalent vaccines, which are expected to arrive in July. DOH data showed that there were 1,112 pertussis cases nationwide from January to March 30. Only 32 cases were recorded during the same period last year.The infection poses a threat particularly among infants and young children who are at risk for severe symptoms and life-threatening complications.
