The Department of Health said on Saturday that there has been a decrease in measles and pertussis cases in the country.

Data from DOH showed there were 408 reported cases from April 14 to 27, down 8% compared to the 442 cases from March 31 to April 13.A total of 2,552 measles cases were reported nationwide as of May 11, including five deaths.Meanwhile, pertussis cases from April 14 to 27 were 25% lower than the March 31 to April 13 reporting period .

All regions did not have a continuous increase in measles and pertussis cases during the most recent six-week monitoring period, the DOH said.As of May 11, the country had reported a total of 2,521 pertussis cases, including 96 deaths.“We continue to await the millions of doses of pentavalent vaccines coming in this third quarter.
