The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 605 new COVID-19 cases, while the active tally went down to 13,822.

This was lower than Thursday's 619 new cases and second straight day of more than 600 cases but eight straight day of less than 1,000 new cases.on Thursday. The active tally recorded on Friday was the lowest in 173 days or since July 10 when 13,818 active cases were recorded.The National Capital Region logged the highest cases in the past two weeks with 3,672, followed by Calabarzon with 1,691, Central Luzon with 836, Western Visayas with 465, and Ilocos Region with 344.

A total of 476 patients defeated the viral disease pushing the country’s recovery tally to 3,984,635. The death tally, meanwhile, also increased to 65,359 with 27 new fatalities. This was the eight straight day of less than 30 new deaths but ninth straight day of more than 20 new deaths. At least 8,885 individuals were tested, while 336 testing laboratories submitted data as of Thursday, December 29.

The bed occupancy in the country slightly increased to 18.8% with at least 5,144 beds occupied and 22,161 vacant as of Wednesday, December 28.
