The Philippines recorded 693 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the nationwide caseload to 4,158,584.

Data from the Department of Health showed that the active tally went down to 9,005 cases, the lowest in six weeks, or 43 days, and marking the fourth straight day with fewer than 10,000 active cases.

One fatality was recorded after 10 days with no new deaths. The country’s death toll is now 66,482, while recoveries have increased to 4,083,097. The National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases in the past two weeks with 2,740, followed by Calabarzon with 1,900, Central Luzon with 1,687, Western Visayas with 1,052, and Cagayan Valley with 774.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City recorded the highest number of new cases in the past 14 days with 681, followed by Iloilo with 638, Cavite with 632, Bulacan with 477, and Laguna with 439.As of Thursday, the national COVID-19 bed occupancy rate was 18.5%, with 4,653 occupied and 20,530 vacant beds. —
