Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire issues the statement in response to calls for a total ban on countries that have detected an Omicron case.

No change in pandemic response

Vergeire also said that there will be no changes in the country’s pandemic response and that the government will “intensify” the implementation of existing strategies such as border control, active case tracking, vaccination, and enforcement of minimum health protocols.. As I’ve said, whatever we’re doing now is the formula for us to get protected against any kind of variant. What we’re going to do is we intensify our response, especially with our borders,” Vergeire said.

I wish Usec Vergiere will look at how the Wuhan virus entered and spread like wilfire when we did not close border from China in January 2020. It started wuth a couple from China who entered Philippines from Mactan. It takes one single infected person to spread the virus .

The O variant is cause for concern not alarm. You know where I find cause for alarm - the historical response of the DOH to surges in infections. (It’s like they wait for the impact before they tap the breaks).

Ayan na naman tau eh..ala Duque at duterte ka rin eh!!
