An official of the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) has appealed to parents to have their children vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases such as poliomyelitis, measles, and rubella. CDNDigital

“Busa kita nagmugna ta aning catch up immunization tungod kay ang national data sa fully immunized child, mubo sad kaayo. Aron [sad] malikayan nato nga magepidemic sa measles nga daku kaayo nga problema kay mao unya’y makapuno sa atong tambalanan,” he added.The World Health Organization defines measles as a highly contagious viral disease. WHO said “it remains an important cause of death among young children globally, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine.

DOH 7 targets to immunize a total of 309,245 children ages zero to 59 months with Bivalent oral polio vaccine that protects against poliovirus types 1 and 3.
