The Department of Energy plans to bid out the microgrid systems for private sector participation within the year as part

“In areas with clusters of households, microgrid systems can be implemented. These localized power grids function independently, offering a reliable and efficient electricity supply to the entire community,” DOE Undersecretary Rowena Guevara said during the conclusion of the three-day Giga Summit organized by the Meralco Power Academy.

“Microgrid has all—generation, transmission, distribution. There are islands that are not connected, and there are a lot of exceptions, so we can do this fast, so we will do the auction this year, for the candidate market grids,” Guevara said.
