The country’s inflation is expected to decelerate this month with data likely to reflect a reversal of the increase in rice prices, according to think tank Oxford Economics.

“We still expect disinflation to resume in October, mainly because local rice prices are firmly on a downward trend,” Oxford Economics economist Makoto Tsuchiya told The STAR.The headline inflation rate rose for the second straight month to 6.1 percent in September due largely to faster food price increases, particularly rice.
