THE Department of the Interior and Local Government urged barangays on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, to institute a registration system for local domestic workers to ensure the protection of their fundamental rights as members of the labor force.
Under the Implementing Rules and Regulation of RA 10361, punong barangays shall be responsible for the registry of Kasambahay within his/her jurisdiction, with each employer registering kasambahay/s under his or her employment in the barangay of his residence. The employer shall also enroll the kasambahay to the SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-Ibig.
Año highlighted the importance of safeguarding the welfare of kasambahays and to protect them from any kinds of abuse just like the protection given by the government to all other laborers.
