A total of 503 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 56 new fatalities were recorded among Filipinos abroad over the previous week.In a report released on Monday, August 2, 2021, the Department of Foreign Affairs said they have recorded 71 new recoveries among overseas Filipinos from the period of July 26 to August 2, 2021.

Compared to last week’s figures, the DFA noted that the total number of COVID-19 fatalities, under treatment, and recoveries increased by 4.42 percent, 5.14 percent, and 0.57 percent, respectively. To date, the total number of confirmed cases is 21,641; undergoing treatment, 7,789; recoveries, 12,531, and deaths, 1,322.

After more than one-and-a-half years into the pandemic, the combined Middle East and African regions remain to have the highest total numbers of cases among overseas Filipinos in all categories, namely, deaths , undergoing treatments , and recoveries . “The DFA continues to monitor the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the foreign affairs office said in its weekly report.
