DFA records 157 new COVID19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total tops 2,800

MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad who tested positive for COVID-19 breached the 2,800-mark as 157 new coronavirus infections have been recorded, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.The death toll remains at 334 as no new fatalities were reported.With a spike of 157 confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad today - mostly from the Middle East - the total number of COVID-19 infections of our nationals abroad went over the 2,800 mark. pic.twitter.

— DFA Philippines May 28, 2020 To date, 1,553 Filipinos overseas are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down as follows by region: 135 in the Asia-Pacific, 464 in Europe, 683 in the Middle East and Africa, and 271 in the Americas. In the Philippines, the COVID-19 has so far infected 15,588 people, of whom 921 have died while 3,598 have recovered.
