Recognizing the importance of promoting nurturing care for early childhood development, the Department of Education (DepEd) continues to call for strengthened support among various sectors to invest on young children.

The Early Childhood Care and Development Council — an attached agency of the DepEd — in cooperation with Save the Children Philippines recently launched the Nurturing Care Framework and the ECCD Council Media Packages.

In her keynote address, ECCD Council Vice-Chairperson and Executive Director Dr. Teresita Inciong underscored the need to provide a positive learning environment and connection to a child influences his/her holistic development. “Good health, adequate nutrition, responsive caregiving, security and safety, early learning and social protection are ECCD’s main components for nurturing care development for children,” she said.

Meanwhile, representing the DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction, Bureau of Learning Delivery Supervising Education Program Specialist Jocelyn Tuguinayo highlighted the importance of the ECCD Council’s goals.
