The Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte has put up its own quarantine facility not only for COVID-19 but also for other contagious diseases, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Sunday, Oct. 17.

“This project of Regional Superintendent CTSupt. Albert C. Manalo prepares DPPF to any emerging infectious diseases and intensifies the isolation/quarantine capability of this institution to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and protect the PDLs population from contagious diseases,” BuCor said. It said the newly built facility has been inspected last Friday, Oct. 15, by the DPPF’s Infrastructure Inspection Team headed by CSInsp. Nonie Forro.

BuCor records showed that as of Aug. 27, a total of 369 personnel and 645 PDLs had been infected with COVID. Of those infected personnel, 219 were from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, 51 from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, 31 from the Leyte Regional Prison , eight from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, 18 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga, 20 from DPPF, and five from 5 from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm .As of last Aug. 31, a total of 3,384 PDLs has been vaccinated.
