Davao City to offer free COVID19 test for airline passengers

DAVAO CITY — Two weeks since the resumption of domestic flights at the Davao International Airport, the city government is set to offer free COVID-19 testing for airline passengers who have arrived since June 8, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said Wednesday.

According to Duterte-Carpio, funds were allocated for this program to identity possible coronavirus carriers in the city. The tests will be conducted in a private hospital. The number of flights in the airport is limited to two per day, one for arrival and one for departure. The local government has proposed six more flights starting next week.

Duterte-Carpio said they have proposed to the national government the rapid testing of passengers in all Philippine airports before departure. The Davao Airport has implemented health screening for both arriving and departing passengers since the start of sweeper flights.
