Dableo sweeps Sicilian Prodigy chess tournament

Dableo , who is a grandmaster candidate and head coach of the multi-titled University of Santo Tomas chess team, opened his campaign with a win over Jan Carlsen Matencio then followed it with victories over Patrick Bonifacio, Arena Fide Master Ritchie James Abeleda, Woman National Master Lexie Grace Hernandez, Kevin Arquero, Luffe Magdalaga and National Master Ivan Travis Cu.

Dableo, also a member of the star-studded Philippine Army chess team, pocketed the P10,000 cash prize and an elegant trophy courtesy of host Arena Grandmaster Reu Gabriel Sebolino and International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia.'I am happy to have won the Sicilian Prodigy 1st Edition FIDE-rated Rapid Open Chess Tournament. I wish that my luck would remain the same in my next tournament,' said the 45-year-old Dableo, who currently has a Fide rating of 2364.
