“The takedown was carried out a week after the Party exposed the fascist crime of the Philippine military in the torture and killing of CPP leaders Benito and Wilma Tiamzon and the massacre of the Catbalogan 10,” CPP Information Officer Marco Valbuena said in a statement.
“This crackdown by Twitter, surely instigated by the US and Marcos governments, further exposes the hypocrisy of ‘absolute freedom' which supposedly exists in the Twitter platform, and form part of the heightening suppression of the freedom of speech under rising fascism worldwide,” he said. In response, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson Medel Aguilar told GMA News Online that “promoting violence and terrorism is against all morals and community standards.”
