The question is: what has the Philippines learned in coping with this unprecedented health issue that gripped the entire world and did not spare any country, rich or poor, big or small.

IT’S been more than two years since the Covid-19 pandemic started and hit the Philippines in March 2020.

In his presentation “Universal Health and Covid-19,” Dr. Domingo said all talk pointed to the issue of Universal Health Care or UHC in the middle of a pandemic. But what does UHC really talk about? But even despite the pandemic, UHC did not stop. Dr. Domingo said the pandemic provided challenges and opportunities. Now that it is a full-fledged law, coupled with the existence of the Implementing Rules and Regulations , it is time for the law to be implemented. And because of the pandemic, it also underscored the importance of primary health care and how to make it work.

As for Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi, UP-PGH Director, one thing they learned about the pandemic was that human resource is the best resource, the people we work with, those who were willing to do anything about the pandemic then and yet were willing to listen to the wisdom of those who knew.
