The Bureau of Immigration is seeing a major increase in the number of coronavirus cases for its frontliners.“We’re seeing a record-high number of active COVID -19 cases this past week and we are doing our best to be able to sustain our operations,” he said
Morente said that of the active cases, 135 are assigned at the airports, 91 at the BI’s main office in Intramuros, and 25 came from other other field offices.“This is severely affecting our operations,” said Morente. The BI chief said he has requested the Department of Justice for the reduction of their on-site work force. The DOJ is the mother department of the BI and oversees its operations.
“We have also prepared a rapid response team on standby to augment our frontlines to ensure that our services continue.” he added.
