Classes in elementary and secondary public schools nationwide are set to resume on Monday, January 6, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).

Based on DepEd Order No. 007 series of 2019 or the School Calendar for 2019-2020 issued by Education Secretary Leonor Briones, classes in public schools are scheduled to resume on the first Monday of the year or on January 6, 2020 after three weeks of Christmas break.

In the implementing guidelines on the SY 2019-2020 School Calendar issued by DepEd earlier, schools are enjoined to “effectively and efficiently implement the school events and activities.” Meanwhile, DepEd has yet to make announcements on the status or resumption of classes of schools affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.Meanwhile, more classroom buildings and dormitories for public schools in 2020, funded through “Angat Buhay” and its private partners, will be built this year.
