Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos, vice chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People , cited the sacrifices and valuable contribution of overseas Filipino workers to the country’s economy.“Our OFWs are our economic front liners against Covid-19. With their remittance for the first nine months this year reaching 23.12 billion dollars, we are financially sustained and stable,” Bishop Santos said over Radio Veritas.
“Truly, they are our economic heroes. They exemplify the true face of Filipinos: honest, hardworking and helpful,” the Church leader said. “They are always ready to share, make sacrifices for our country and their loved ones. With their generous remittance, our Christmas is merrier and our New Year happier. Let us be grateful to them and always pray for their strength, sound health and safety,” Santos said over the faith-based station.
