Defining the News

The Commission on Human Rights on Friday urged the government to expedite the release of the country’s oldest political prisoner, who has served over a decade of his prison term.

The resolution grants release for one who is at least 70 years old and has served at least 10 years of their sentence. “In his decade-long imprisonment, his health has now declined with his eyesight and hearing also deteriorating,” CHR said.
