The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Wednesday, Sept. 8, urge top Philippine universities to use “bayanihan” spirit to help upgrade the quality of tertiary sports.

In a press conference, CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera said that higher education institutions in the country are “enthusiastic and open” in working together to strengthen their respective programs.

“We can bring the universities together, get the best practices from top universities like La Salle, UST, UP, develop capacity building for the other universities so that overall our sports facilities in the country are up to standards,” De Vera said. The CHED honcho noted that they are creating “better pathways” for sports-inclined young people to develop.

CHED and PSC signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the Tertiary School Sports Development Program on March 10 to help improve the professional development of Filipino student-athletes and coaches.
