Unlike other former Alaska personnel that switched loyalty to other teams in the Philippine Basketball Association, Sean Chambers played only for the Wilfred Uytengsu franchise in his 12 seasons in Asia’s first professional cage league.
The former Alaska resident import paid tribute and expressed affection and gratitude to the only PBA team he has played for. “Thank you to everyone reaching out to me about the news of my beloved Alaska Aces. I haven’t found the right words to express my love and gratitude for Mr. Uytengsu, my teammates, the Alaska family, fans, and the entire PBA Family,” said Chambers, who has seven championships with Alaska.
“My career and legacy in the Philippines, all the memories with my brothers and teammates, and all the wonderful Filipinos that are still a huge part of my life. These memories will last a lifetime and beyond. My family and I are forever grateful,” said Chambers. And of course, he has good words for the loyal fans of Alaska. “Please keep all the Alaska Aces die-hard fans in your prayers.”
Chambers, now 55 years old, first came to the Philippines in 1987 as part of the Los Angeles Jaguars in the PBA-IBA Challenges series. He caught the fancy of local fans when he emerged the Slam Dunk champion in a side event of the said series. It was in 1989 though when he wore the Alaska red-black jersey for the first time. Coach Bogs Adornado hired him as Alaska import to replace Car Lott in the PBA First Conference.
