THE Cebu Provincial Government has resumed the distribution of Dasig Sugbo cards to the residents affected by Typhoon Odette last December 16 2021.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the distribution of cash cards on Friday, May 20, 2022, in the towns of Barili and Pinamungajan. The cash cards, with P3,000, P5,000 and P8,000 denominations, can be used to buy grocery items and construction materials that can help in rebuilding their homes that were either damaged or destroyed by the typhoon.Residents with damaged houses received cards worth P3,000 to P5,000, while those with destroyed houses got P8,000 Dasig Sugbo cards.
The giving of cash cards was temporarily suspended in March in observance with the Commission on Elections ruling, which prohibits a local government unit to release funds that might be used in campaign activities. The Provincial Government has allocated P2 billion funds to help the residents recover from the effects of Typhoon Odette.SunStar website welcomes friendly debate, but comments posted on this site do not necessarily reflect the views of the SunStar management and its affiliates.
