CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor Rey Gealon has proposed an ordinance establishing the registry of barangay inhabitants and migrants of Cebu City.
The council then referred the proposed ordinance to the Committee on Laws, Ordinances, and Styling and the Committee on Barangay Affairs. The barangay secretary of each barangay will be responsible for maintaining, keeping, securing, and updating the Registry of Barangay Inhabitants and Migrants and will act as the official custodian of such records.Gealon said to ensure that right to privacy would be respected according to Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act, the data to be recorded and stored would be used only for the purposes mentioned in the ordinance.
