Cebu City 'quite good' with half of COVID19 patients recovered: mayor

Watch also in iWant or TFC.tv Cebu City has done "quite good" in efforts to contain its cases of the coronavirus disease, the highest in the country, with half of its patients having recovered, its mayor said Thursday.

The city of 1 million people, which began screening residents for the virus in March, tallied as of Wednesday 5,596 cases of the respiratory disease, said Mayor Edgardo Labella. Of this figure, 2,897 patients have recovered, leaving 2,699 active cases. This pegs the city's recovery rate at around 52 percent, or about the double than the national recovery rate of 27 percent, he said. Cebu however remains a COVID-19 hotspot.
