The flooding in Barangay Tisa and the landslide in Barangay Talamban were caused by a poorly planned drainage in those respective areas. This caused the rise in floodwater and the erosion of the soil, respectively. “A little rain and it already floods. I think we really need more manpower, reinforcement, then there must be an urgency [in the] implementation of our anti-flood project,” said Guardo.As for landslide-prone barangays, Guardo urged the barangays to push for the request for budgets for disaster preparedness like the building of retaining wall and setting up preventive measures against landslides.

If a monsoon can do damage, the councilor fears a typhoon may take lives if the city is not prepared for it.
