CARDINAL Luis Antonio Tagle on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the killing of seven people at a Caritas center in the besieged Ukrainian city of Mariupol, an incident that was only announced last Monday.

'Our sadness turns into an appeal to the international community to exert every effort to bring this violence to an end, to return to dialogue, and to see a brother and sister in every person,' added Tagle who is currently in the Vatican in his capacity as the prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.Based on reports, a Russian tank fired on the Caritas center in Mariupol, killing two employees and five family members who had sought refuge in the building.
