Two Filipinos were killed while four others were injured when a car crashed outside Singapore's Lucky Plaza — a shopping center frequented by overseas Filipino workers — on Sunday.
Philippine Consul General in Singapore Adrian Bernie Candolada confirmed on Monday that six Filipino women — all OFWs — were involved in the accident along Orchard Road. Aside from the two women who died, two remain in critical condition. Two others are still recuperating in the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, but are in stable condition, the envoy said.
"It was so sudden, the car just went off the road and ran through a group of Filipino women during their day off on the roadside," Candolada told CNN Philippines. The official said the Department of Foreign Affairs has only contacted two of the six families. He said government assistance will be given to the affected families. The DFA, through the embassy, is now in touch with Singapore authorities for the repatriation of the remains.
